Mark Schreiber was a guest host for OSPA’s Thought Leadership Webinar “Have existing physical access controls systems effectively supported COVID-19 return to office efforts?” He emphasizes that access control systems no longer support just regular security operations, but that they serve a whole new list of functions since the Covid-19 outbreak.
Mark Schreiber gave a presentation to ISSA Upstate South Carolina Chapter on the subject of physical security, specifically during the pandemic. COVID-19 has changed the security industry since businesses are looking towards new ways to mitigate the spread of illnesses. In June of 2020, Mark Schreiber was a panelist for the OSPA Thought Leadership Webinar. The Webinar focused around if new technologies could be useful in helping people return to work post pandemic. The panelists agree that technology can be very beneficial to a company, however, it is important to not oversee any steps in the process and that they should incorporate the right technologies for their business.

In October of 2018, Safeguards Consulting supported the CONSULT 2018 Conference with the attendance of their Principal Consultant, Mark Schreiber, who was also the Facilitator of a panel discussion on modern credentialing. The panel consisted of Garrett Guess of Heritage Medical, Scott Lindley of Farpointe Data, Dean Forchas of HID Global, and David Weinbach of LenelS2. The discussion covered the positives/negatives of physical credentials and mobile credentials, and the changing physical security environments of deploying them in a hybrid environment.
On October 16th, our Principal Consultant, Mark Schreiber, delivered an presentation on UAS (Drone) and Counter-UAS (Counter-Drone) technologies for Security Management at the Southeast Security Expo. The Expo was a combination of Management focused presentations, Technology focused presentations, and solution exhibits. The event took place at the historic Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Safeguards Consulting was honored to have been requested to support the Greenville, South Carolina ISSA Chapter with a presentation on October 12th, 2018. The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) is the “community of choice for international cybersecurity professionals dedicated to advancing individual growth, managing technology risk and protecting critical information and infrastructure”. At this meeting, our Principal Consultant, Mark Schreiber, gave a presentation on Physical Security Engineering and Construction. This presentation covered the planning process for security management, the value of security convergence, the design process, construction documentation, and an overview of physical security technologies.
Infragard, a public-private outreach by the U.S. FBI, is a great platform for information sharing and education to address the ever-changing threat environment.
